Amado Maita - Amado Maita (Copacabana,1972)

First ever reissue of this seminal samba-jazz masterpiece by Amado Maita, originally released on Copacabana Label in 1972.
'A pretty fantastic set of soulful 70s work from Brazil – a set that's got lots of deep currents in the orchestrations, which are echoed further by the rich vocals of Amada Maita. The record's got a way of sounding sophisticated and groovy at the same time – and the arrangements often use saxes and flute to create these cool contrasting colors and tones – which makes for a record that shimmers with light one minute, then dives into the dark the next – a bit like some of the hippest EMI/Odeon material of the time, or maybe a bit like some of the fuller records cut by Emilio Santiago later in the 70s. Arrangements are by Antonio Barbosa and Mozar Terra.' -Dusty Groove
Check the funky "Samba de Amigo" & the slow tempo "Cemitério dos Vivos".
